I think you could ask the paint pros at a home improvement center what they’d recommend for stripping it down, which could look awesome! As for paint colors, a charcoal or black door would go well with forest green shutters and a white house I think! Maybe paint a poster board in each possible color and tape them up on the door to see what you like?

New England colonial)… should I strip it to the wood color? I would rather paint it but what the heck goes with forest green??? There is a screened porch so you cant really see the front door until you come into the porch and no shutters on the porch windows.. just the ones on the house above porch… also, wooden floor boards are painted forest green,,any suggestions???

My husband and I like the idea of putting a bright color on the front door in place of its current bright white.

The other side of the door, the interior, however, will never be a bright color. I’d be ok putting color on it, but the husband just can’t bear to let paint touch that original 1930 oak. If we ever move, the next owners might…
