In reply to Tara.

Installation is free at most places (Lowe’s, Home Depot, and even independent vendors). Nice, right?!

Quick question, when you bought the countertops, does the price you have up there include installation or was there an additional cost on top of that?

Thanks for all of your inspiration over the years; I’m feeling ready to dive right in!!

In reply to Ellen.

We never did update those since they were tucked under such a big overhang you really couldn’t see them, but we had grand plans to just put some plywood over them to cover them and then build out a few panels (maybe two or three – we would have sketched it out) just to give it that finished trim-work feeling. Hope it helps!

So, I am finally in the midst of my kitchen renovation! I realize you guys are now in a totally different house, but I’m wondering about the 10″ metal brackets you installed on your kitchen island to hold up the countertop over the barstools. I’ve got a similar situation. I know you painted them, but I’m wondering if they ever felt “unfinished” to you? I’ve searched around online and found “hidden brackets” which you install in the base cabinets before putting on the countertops, but they are really expensive compared to the 10″ Home Depot brackets. So whaddya say? Did those exposed brackets ever bug you or make the space under the countertop feel chintzy? Would you have splurged on hidden ones like these? Thanks!!! http://www.countertopbracket.com/Granite-Brackets-Standard-for-granite-overhangs-p/sb4h.htm?gclid=CNGBkK6zoL4CFQmSfgodxi4A8w

I love how simple and elegant it looks. This is my dream kitchen especially since I love the light green color.
